DLS Academy is a small, founder-operated business based in Kelowna, BC. This policy describes how Ajay Gill, doing business as DLS Academy, handles personal information collected through dlsacademy.ca. We comply with the British Columbia Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).

What we collect

Email address (Notebook subscriptions, Film Room waitlist)
Name, phone, age, and current playing level (program application or contact form)
What you are trying to improve (application or contact form)
Standard server logs (anonymous, no marketing tracking)
Privacy-respecting page-view analytics via Plausible (no cookies, no personal data)

Why we collect it

To respond to your application or inquiry
To send you new Notebook essays and Field Notes if you subscribe
To deliver Film Room launch information if you join the waitlist
To enroll an athlete in a cohort and communicate program logistics

Where it lives

Form submissions are processed by Formspree (US-hosted) and forwarded to Ajay's email. Personal information may be retained in a private spreadsheet or simple CRM that only Ajay accesses. We do not use third-party tracking pixels (no Facebook Pixel, no Google Analytics).

Cross-border data flow

Formspree stores data on US servers. By submitting any form on this site, you consent to this cross-border transfer, which is permitted under BC PIPA with consent.

Who else sees it

No one. We do not sell, share, or rent personal information. We may disclose information only if required by law (court order, subpoena) or with your express consent.

How long we keep it

Email list: until you unsubscribe
Application and contact submissions: until enrollment completion plus seven years (Canada Revenue Agency requirement) for enrolled athletes; otherwise within twelve months of last contact for non-enrolled inquiries
Server logs: thirty days

Your rights

You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information at any time. Email train.dlsacademy@gmail.com from the address on record. We respond within 14 days and complete deletion requests within 30 days, as required by BC PIPA.

Email and CASL

Every email we send identifies us as the sender, includes our city (Kelowna, BC), and provides a working unsubscribe instruction. We send one Training Notes email per month at most. We do not run drip sequences.

Photo and video consent

Photo and video consent for enrolled athletes is collected separately at enrollment via a signed form. Default opt-in for use on Instagram and the DLS Academy site. Opt-out available at any time. Footage of athletes who have not opted in is cropped, blurred, or excluded.

Children

Most DLS Academy athletes are minors. Personal information for minors is collected only with parent or guardian consent, recorded as part of the application process.

Changes

We will update this policy if our practices change. The "last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be communicated to active subscribers by email.
